I hired Autumn to take on my lengthy divorce case. She was my third attorney after the first one became ill and had to withdraw from my case. The second one was Stephen T. Holman, who was worthless. Autumn was accessible when I needed to talk to her. We were able to schedule appointments around my and her schedules. She is an excellent mediator. She definitely did not tell me things I wanted to hear at the time, but I respected her opinion and advice. Hunter was utilized by Autumn to assist me with the financial side of things. I have to say I was not impressed. He saw my assets and billed me tens of thousands of dollars for doing “financial work” such as putting assets in proper columns. This is something I had already done and brought to the firm from prior lawyers. He did not listen or appear to remember, as he kept asking the same questions. Nina Wetter was very helpful in getting things ready for possible trial. In the end we were able to settle largely in part because of Autumn.

She can be very direct, even bossy at times, and she will tell you the unvarnished truth (which is exactly what you need, even if it stings in the moment). Yes, her services are expensive—but when you’re going through a family law nightmare, you don’t want to gamble with anyone less skilled. Her level of expertise, preparation, and courtroom ability is top-tier. Kudos to Autumn Beck Blackledge Apr 14, 2022

This may be the first commentary like this, but it’s noteworthy of Autumn Beck Blackledge. She represented my former spouse during divorce proceedings. My lawyer withdrew his services shortly after our civil mediation. Since there were no appeals or disagreements from me or her client (former spouse), Autumn completed divorce decree proceedings alone. Kudos to Autumn. On the flip side, this is a sad commentary where a client hires and trusts a lawyer to defend them but, in turn, that trust was breached, and the lawyer withdrew their services because they disagree with their client’s request to comply with court proceedings. Meanwhile, the lawyer continues to churn up expenses afterwards. I’m obligated to pay. Clients hire lawyers to fight for them, not against them. This is a client’s worst nightmare. Best advice, check that lawyer’s practice area. If they practice law in more than one area, they’re no expert but a generalist at best. Second advice: investigate their W-L record; years of experience may not correlate. Third advice: view the lawyer’s social platform accounts. Good lawyers like Autumn will be transparent and post the good, bad, and ugly. Do not rely on law office referrals like I did. In my opinion, it’s a revenue generator for lawyers more so than a client-centered law practice. Having the right lawyer with expertise in your area of need levels the battlefield. For example, if your referred lawyer dabbles in multiple areas of practice, that should raise a red flag. In another metaphor, if a woman is having a baby, a well-trained obstetrician will deliver the best care, unlike a podiatrist. All that said, prudent lawyers like Autumn Beck Blackledge were gracefully strategic and were superior to my lawyer. Maybe that’s why he quit on me. Bottom line, Ms. Blackledge will always get my referral as your best defense in family law practice issues.
